CHW Corps
An initiative designed to strengthen and expand the CHW workforce pipeline, recruit and train diverse Californians from the communities that need them most, and advance health equity across the state.
Health Equity Workforce for Diverse Californians
CHW Corps is an initiative designed to strengthen and expand the Community Health Worker workforce pipeline for California. Working through a community college-based public health training program in Long Beach, we recruit, train, and place CHWs from the communities that experience the state’s most acute health workforce shortages — majority Latino/x, Black, Asian, and Pacific Islander students who bring the cultural fluency, lived experience, and trusted access that make community-based health work effective. From recruitment through training, placement, and long-term career progression, CHW Corps produces a workforce that reflects the people it serves and is equipped to advance health equity across California.
